Clean-in-Place Pump Design: Ideal for IVD, Medical, and Food and Beverage Applications

October 30, 2024

Diener Precision Pumps’ Silencer and Silencer LD pumps are designed to tackle a critical challenge in fluid handling systems: eliminating stagnant zones, or “dead spots,” where fluid can sit and potentially harbor bacteria.

Unlike traditional designs where fluid bypasses the magnet cup—creating hard-to-clean areas—our pumps feature a proprietary quick-rinse flow path that actively routes all fluid through this area. This continuous flow ensures that no part of the pump is left stagnant, making the cleaning-in-place (CIP) process much more effective. This makes our pumps ideal for applications in IVD systems, medical devices, and food and beverage processing, where hygiene and contamination prevention are essential.

With capacities up to 4 liters per minute and capability to operate at pressures up to 10 bar, our precision metering and gear pumps are designed to perform reliably while keeping contamination risks low and reducing cleaning-related downtime.

Smart Pump Design for Hygienic Fluid Handling

In environments requiring sterile conditions, like medical devices or food and beverage processing, it’s crucial that pumps can be cleaned easily without disassembly. Many conventional magnetically coupled gear pumps fall short in this regard, especially in areas like the magnet cup, where fluid stagnation can occur. These areas are difficult to rinse or clean in place, making them prone to contamination.

Smart design of Diener’s Silencer Series and Silencer LD Series pumps solves this issue with our proprietary quick-rinse flow path. In contrast to conventional designs where fluid bypasses the magnet cup, our pumps feature an advanced quick-rinse flow path that channels fluid directly through the magnet cup and all other areas of the pump, leaving no part stagnant. This optimized design brings multiple benefits:

  • it enhances the efficiency of cleaning-in-place (CIP)
  • simplifies disinfection
  • reduces downtime
  • lowers contamination risk.
